In a fast-paced environment like a dental office, it’s important for you to accomplish tasks as quickly and efficiently as possible. Did you know you can use keyboard shortcut keys to accomplish basic tasks in Dentrix Enterprise? In this post, we’ll show you the best keyboard shortcuts and time-savers that may seem like a small thing, but can make a huge difference in your day-to-day use of Dentrix Enterprise. By using these shortcuts you may notice navigating the software and opening commonly-used modules is quicker and easier. Here are a few of our favorites you can start using today!

Note: Shortcut keys can have a different effect depending on which module in Dentrix Enterprise is active.

Universal Shortcut Keys

F1
Press the F1 key in most Dentrix Enterprise modules to open the Help files.

F2
Press the F2 key in most Dentrix Enterprise modules to open the Select Patient dialog box. Tip: Even when you select your patient and go to their Chart, press F2 again to switch to another patient.

Alt + F4
Hold down the Alt key and press F4 to close any active module.

Patient Chart Shortcut Keys

F3
In the Chart, press F3 to open the Print Options dialog box.

F9
In the Chart and Family File, press F9 to open Clinical Notes.

Appointment Book Shortcut Keys

F1, F2, F3, etc.
Use these keys to switch between views. Each time you add an Appointment Book view, a unique keystroke or keystroke combination is assigned to that view. You can quickly switch between Appointment Book views by pressing an assigned shortcut key and then pressing another assigned shortcut key to go back to the original view.
Tip: You can view a list of the shortcut keys assigned to your different Appointment Book Views by clicking View from the Appointment Book menu. From the Select View dialog box you can see the name of each View and the shortcut key assigned (Figure 1).

Shift + right click
Hold the Shift Key and right-click on the mouse to show hover info for each appointment.

General Keyboard Shortcut keys

Ctrl + C/Ctrl + V
Copy and paste text from one document or window to another.

Alt + Print Screen
Makes a copy of the active window on your computer that you can copy and paste into another program. For example, you can take a screenshot of an insurance’s coverage plan and paste it into the Document Center.
